Our Story

I arrived here in the Hampton Roads community  in January 2006 after living overseas for six years.  At the urging of my husband Dale, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of being an actress.

Well, after taking some classes, securing an agent, and going on countless auditions, I became increasingly aware that there there simply were not a lot of  cross-cultural opportunities for me -  here in the seven cities. Not only that, I began to realize that there was not a lot of diversity – period!  Rather than lament that fact, or sit around complaining, I decided to try and do something about it – hence, the launch of

IRON STREET PRODUCTIONS, LLC

Named for the south side, St. Louis, street that my family resided on for five generations,  Iron Street represents not only  where, and who,  I come from -  but it is also my living testimony and reminder of what hard work and perserverance for the greater good has come to represent. Just like my ancestors before me, I too, started  out with little, and have been rewarded with so much.  To quote my Great Grandmother Zelma Thompson "Not what we GAIN, but what we GIVE measuures the WORTH of the life we live".

I thank my ancestors for giving me the gift of tenacity                                                                   Home - St. Louis, MO (Carondelet)

They left me huge shoes to fill, but great footprints to guide me.

It’s been a whirlwind journey for me. I am proud of where we started, what we have produced so far, and look forward to a bright future. We are eternally grateful for the warm reception that you, the community, has afforded us and the wonderful pool of talent that has contributed to the overall success of our productions.

To date, our theatrical programming has covered an eclectic range of material, showcasing 113 actors (64 African American) and given back to the community in the amount of $3200.00. Not bad.

Amazing, considering that we are totally self-funded; motivated only, by our love of the arts and cross cultural experiences

ISP is funded solely by the Artistic Director and ISP Programming (ticket sales, classes, events, etc.) you can now donate to ISP to help keep our artistic opportunities available, and growing for the community. Give as little as you like or as much as can, all donations are greatly appreciated.
